Sales Team Setup

Your Reps Tap a Disposition After Every Door. Make the Buttons Match How You Actually Sell.

Your reps tap a disposition after every door. If those options don't match how your team actually canvasses, your field data starts to lie. Here is why custom dispositions matter and how to set them up in NomoHub in a few minutes.

By NomoHub | Setup Guide

A canvasser working a storm-damaged neighborhood will knock dozens of doors before lunch. After each one, they tap a disposition. That single tap is the only record of what happened at that door, and it is the raw material for every canvassing report you will ever pull.

Here is the problem. Most teams run on a disposition list that someone set up once and then nobody touched again. The options do not match how your reps actually work a street, so a rep taps the closest thing or taps nothing at all. A few days later you are staring at a map full of "Other," trying to guess where to send people back.

Customizing your dispositions fixes that, and it is one of the faster things you can set up in NomoHub. Below is what dispositions actually do, how to build a list your reps will use, and a video that walks through the whole setup.

What a Disposition Actually Records

A disposition is the label a rep applies after a door, a call, or a lead interaction to record what happened. "Not home." "Appointment set." "Inspection scheduled." "Roof too new." "Already signed with someone else." Each tap is one small piece of data. Stacked across a whole crew, they become the story of your canvassing effort.

When those labels are clean, you can answer the questions that actually run the business. How many doors does it take one rep to set an appointment? Which streets are converting and which ones are dead? Where should the crew go back tomorrow, and where is it a waste of gas? When the labels are vague, or nobody agrees on what they mean, none of those answers hold up.

A canvasser can work a perfect street and still leave you with useless data, simply because the buttons they tapped did not match what happened at the door. Your map is only as honest as your dispositions.

Why the Default List Works Against You

Out-of-the-box disposition lists try to fit every kind of sales team, so they end up fitting none of them. They usually have two problems at the same time. They carry options your crew never touches, and they are missing the two or three outcomes you care about most.

Reps notice this faster than you would think. If logging a door means scrolling past six options that do not apply to find the one that does, they grab whatever is closest and move on. Multiply that across a few hundred doors a day, across a whole crew, and your field data quietly drifts away from what really happened. Customizing the list is how you pull it back.

What Clean Dispositions Give You

When your list matches the way your team actually canvasses, the data starts working for you instead of against you. This is what you get back.

Set the list up once, get this back every day

πŸ—ΊοΈ A canvassing map you can trust so you know which doors to revisit, which to skip, and which streets deserve a second pass
πŸ“Š Honest conversion math from doors knocked to appointments set to deals signed, broken out by rep and by area
πŸ” Smarter follow-up because a "callback requested" door and a "not home" door should never be treated the same way
πŸ‘€ Real visibility into the field so you can tell who is working their territory and who is logging windshield time

How to Build a List Your Reps Will Actually Use

Before you start adding options, get clear on what you want to learn from your field data. A short, sharp list beats a long one every time. Most teams do well with somewhere between eight and fifteen dispositions, enough to capture every outcome that matters and few enough that a rep can pick one without looking away from the door.

The test for any option is simple. If you cannot explain in one sentence why a disposition exists and what you would do with it, cut it. Every extra button is one more decision you are asking a rep to make hundreds of times a day.

The disposition most teams forget

Almost everyone sets up "Not Home." Far fewer separate it from "Callback Requested," and that one distinction changes how you run the next day. "Not home" means try again at a different time. "Callback requested" means a homeowner who was interested enough to ask you to come back, which is about as close to a warm lead as canvassing gets. Lumping them together throws away one of the most valuable signals your reps collect. Give it its own button.

Setting Up Custom Dispositions in NomoHub

This lives in your account settings and takes a few minutes. Once you save it, the list shows up for every rep on every device, so the whole crew is logging doors the same way.

Setup overview
1
Log in and open Settings
Navigate to the Admin section within your account settings.
2
Open your Dispositions settings
This is where every field outcome your reps can log is managed.
3
Add the outcomes your team uses
Build the list around how your crew actually works a street, not around a generic default.
4
Group and color-code them
Put the most-used dispositions up top and color them so reps find the right one in a second.
5
Flag the ones that trigger follow-up
Mark outcomes like "callback requested" so they feed straight into your follow-up workflow.
βœ“
Save and roll it out
The list goes live across the app. Tell your crew what changed before their next shift so everyone logs the same way.

If you are changing an existing list mid-season, map your old labels to the new ones so your historical reports still line up. Then give it two weeks and check whether reps are using the new options or falling back on old habits. Adjust from there. The goal is not a perfect list on day one. It is a list that gets a little more accurate every month because it matches the way your team really sells.
